Restoration of Stained Glass in Parisian Staircases

The stained glass windows adorning the staircases of Parisian buildings, whether from the Haussmann era or the 1930s, represent a precious artistic and cultural heritage. These often-overlooked decorative elements require careful maintenance and restoration to preserve their splendor and integrity.

Our team comprises qualified professionals trained in various traditional techniques, including repairing broken pieces, cleaning, glass bonding, fixing, and restoring deteriorated paintings.

On-Site or Workshop Intervention

With unparalleled expertise in heritage conservation, Studio Vitrail meticulously restores classified buildings, adhering to the highest standards set by historical monument authorities. Whether addressing structural weaknesses or the natural aging of stained glass, our team is dedicated to preserving the refinement and vibrancy of this living art, ensuring its longevity for generations to come

The preservation of stained glass, valuable heritage elements, requires interventions tailored to each situation. For stained glass with broken glass pieces, the technique of "repiquage" is used directly on-site. This method allows for the replacement of damaged parts without removing the entire stained glass, offering a quick and effective solution while minimizing disruptions.
For more extensive interventions, the stained glass windows are carefully removed and transported to our specialized workshops. Here, a complete or partial restoration is carried out, depending on the overall condition of each piece. This restoration may include replacing deteriorated lead cames, thus ensuring the stability and durability of the stained glass. This workshop work allows the stained glass to be treated with the necessary care and attention to preserve their beauty and integrity.
